OPPORTUNITY:

The Storied Group's client Kirsten Vangsness ("Criminal Minds") called upon our team to launch her craft distillery Blinking Owl—the first of its kind in Orange County. With a design-centric tasting room and a passion for using locally sourced, organic ingredients to make vodka, gin, whiskey and aquavit, the Blinking Owl story needed to be shared with the right mix of media in order to make it a “can’t miss” destination for SoCal visitors and locals alike.

RESPONSE:

Our team developed a multi-tiered media strategy with the goal of securing both regional and national coverage in print, online, and broadcast outlets. Because Blinking Owl boasts a beautiful space and a truly unique hospitality experience in addition to a dedication to quality liquor craftsmanship, we carefully tailored the brand messaging to speak to a variety of important media genres including lifestyle, F&B, travel, and design.

RESULT:

We secured not only quantity, but quality media coverage, striking the right balance with an array of local Southern California publications as well as heavy-hitting regional and national outlets. Blinking Owl was featured in the LA Times, Sunset, Orange County Register, Buzzfeed, Modern Luxury, Jetsetter, C Magazine, Huffington Post, KTLA, Eater, Lonny, Orange County Magazine, and OC Weekly—to name a few—putting both Blinking Owl and Orange County on the map as a go-to locale for a fun, chic, and one of a kind distillery experience.
